Spennende bok om forklaringen på høyreekstremisme, ekstrem islam og karismatisk kristendom

The Shape of the New: Four Big Ideas and How They Made the Modern World Scott L. Montgomery & Daniel Chirot Denne boka fra Princeton University Press har jeg bare sett på og ikke lest, men den er morsom fordi den innsnevrer seg til å omtale bare fire viktige ideer som har formet det moderne samfunnet, og den følelsesmessige reaksjonen i form av fascisme, ekstrem islam/kristendom på dem slik romantikken var en følelsesbasert reaksjon på opplysningstida. Innholdsfortegnelsen gir en god pekepinn på innfallsvinkelen og avslutter med noen ord om hvor viktig humaniora kan være for å forstå noen av de mest aktuelle problemstillingene i verden i dag.
